Carey’s Castle

Careys Castle

About the Business
This beautiful forest lies close to the Glenary River, a tributary of the River Suir, and has about 2km of forest walks. The main feature is the ruins of the castle that gives the forest its name. It is just 500m from the car park down a woodland trail that leads to the river.
The forest contains an abundance of birds and animals, including the red squirrel and fallow deer. Sparrow hawk can sometimes be sighted. The East Munster Way, a 75km multi-day long distance walk from Carrick-on-Suir to Clogheen also passes through this forest. Look out for the yellow man waymarkers.
